Why Does a Condom Fail?
The best way to protect yourself from your condom failing you is to know what causes a failure in the first place. Condoms can fail for many different reasons, but it is quite easy to prevent such a failure from occurring and thereby protect yourself and your partner.
One reason of failure is by physically damaging condoms by tearing them when they are opened or by carrying them around improperly (without a cardboard package or for too long). If you open your condom properly by tearing it in the corner with your fingers and store them in a cool dry place in a box, you will lower the chances of this type of failure. Another reason is that the condom is past its expiration date and the latex has been compromised.
Condoms can also fall off or slip off if they have not be put on correctly. Knowing how to properly put a condom on you or your partners penis is important in lowering your condom failure chances. Sometimes a couple using condoms for their primary source of birth control can get sloppy and forget to buy condoms or decide to risk sex without a condom. Having condoms handy and being prepared can stop this from happening.
Use a condom every time and store them properly for even safer sex.
