Do Not Trade in Your Water Based Lube for Silicone

Although silicone based lube can have some great pluses that you can’t get from a water based lube, you have to know it’s not all perfect. There are some downsides to using silicone as well and you will have to decide what things are most important to you when selecting a lubricant.

For one thing if you like to play with sex toys in bed, then a silicone based lube may not work for you. Silicone toys and cyberskin sex toys are not compatible with silicone based lubricant. This will ruin your toys, so stick with water based lube. Another big downside to silicone is that it could ruin your high thread cotton Egyptian cotton sheets! Silicone is not water soluble and it won’t come off your sheets.

If you don’t want to worry about stains in the bed and you don;t want to invest in an extra pair of sex sheets then you should stick with a water based lube. Silicone lube is also pricier than water based lube, but the price tends to even out because they last much longer. You may not want to engage in oral sex when using a silicone based lube because of the bad taste. There is also an oily coating on your skin that can be hard to wash off after sex.
