Dental Dams

Dental dams can help make oral sex much safer for you and your partner. Although it is not as likely to transmit a sexually transmitted disease through oral sex, it can happen. Dental dams may also be used for people engaging in oral-anal sex and want to protect themselves from harmful bacteria. A dental dam is a small and thin square of latex that can be put stretched and held over the area that is to be licked. They provide a barrier that will protect the giver from any disease or bacteria. Dental dams are very easy to use and can even give a new sensation to a partner during oral sex.

Lubricant can be applied to the anus or vagina and then the dental dam is held over the area. The lubricant will help to keep the sensation even though there is a latex barrier. Dental dams can also be purchased in different flavors to keep things more enjoyable for the other partner.

You need to always use a water based lube with dental dams since any other type could erode the latex. If you donÕt have a dental dam handy you can make one by cutting the tip off a condom and then cutting it up one side. You can also make one out of a latex glove, or a non-microwavable piece of saran wrap. The kind that can be mircowaved will not be as useful.
