Sex with co-workers is so common because many people spend a lot of time at work. At work you will joke around and provoke co-workers to have a little fun at the workplace. You will also share many work frustrations with other co-workers. You may also share a lot of common interests with your co-workers. When you begin to build a more intimate relationship with a co-worker it can make you want to be at work, which will make the day pass quicker. Hormones will also kick in, which will give you a sense of euphoria.

Since you enjoy going to work when connecting with a co-worker the tension will build up until you decide to hang out with them or see each other outside of work. When you are outside of work you can flirt more and it may escalate into a sexual encounter. This can be a good thing, but there are many negative things that can come from having a sexual relationship with a co-worker.

Here are some things that can happen when you engage in a sexual relationship with a co-worker.

* Your new sexual relationship can distract you and it may affect your work. You quality of work may decrease and it may cost you your job. You can try to focus on your work but the only thing you can concentrate on is seeing your co-worker in bed again.

* You can get caught in an inappropriate act at work, which are typically grounds for losing your job. This can be from an innocent pat on the behind to being caught in your office engaging in sex. No matter what you do any type of sexual conduct is not appropriate in a work setting.

* Gossip is also a negative aspect that can occur when having a sexual relationship with a co-worker. You may be able to handle the gossip, but nasty rumors can give you an unwanted reputation at work. They also may undermine the authority you have in the workplace and you may not be respected as much. Even if the gossip is not negative, simply dealing with being the attention at the workplace may make you feel uncomfortable.

* One of the negative things that can happen when having sex with a co-worker is that the tow of you can have a fall out with the person you are having the relationship with. It may not be worth it to indulge in a sexual relationship if it ends up that you can’t stand that person or they break it off and you can’t have them. Either way it can have a negative affect on your work.

Before you have a sexual relationship with a co-worker you have to weight the risks and the rewards. It can be a great thing, but you have to be aware of the possible negative consequences, which in the worst-case scenario can end up costing you your job.
